Michael Davis (b. 1996), working under the name Fifth Davis, is a self taught American artist whose practice explores how fleeting experiences can be given enduring sculptural form.

Working primarily with stretched linen and resin, he creates sculptural reliefs that transform a material associated with softness and movement into lasting forms.

Davis constructs each work by stretching linen over temporary hand built armatures that are later removed, allowing the fabric itself to become the finished sculpture.

Recent work extends this approach into light, allowing illumination to pass through and around the material.
